Bill No. 111 – An Act to Amend the Tourism Industry Act
Green Caucus
November 12, 2019

On November 12, 2019, Ms. Hannah Bell, MLA District 11 Charlottetown-Belvedere, introduced a private members bill to amend the Tourism Industry Act.

This bill amends the Tourism Industry Act in the following ways.

First, it adds a definition for ‘platform operator’ – referring to online tourism reservation platforms like AirBnb, Homestay and VRBO.

Further, it requires a unique identification number to be issued with each tourism establishment license. PEI tourism establishments would be required to include this number with any online listings through an online platform operator like AirBnb.
