Statement from the Honourable Peter Bevan-Baker, Leader of the Official Opposition and MLA for District 17, New Haven-Rocky Point on release of Auditor General’s Report
Opposition Green Caucus
March 17, 2020

At this time, our focus remains with helping Islanders as our province responds to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, I want to take a moment to acknowledge the release of the Auditor General’s report.

Since 2013 Jane MacAdam has been serving Islanders as our province’s Auditor General. In her role as AG, she has successfully held government to account for how it has managed public funds and resources. Her keen attention has highlighted areas where accountability, transparency, and management can and should be improved. Her work as been invaluable.

This report, her last before her retirement, continues to demonstrate her strong commitment and attention to detail in her work on behalf of Islanders. The report highlights some areas that government does need to address. The Official Opposition will offer more detailed comments as a response to this report at a more appropriate time.

In the meantime, thank you Jane for your hard work and dedication. On behalf of the caucus of the Official Opposition, I offer our sincere thanks and appreciation. We wish you well in whatever the future holds for you.

Honourable Peter Bevan-Baker
Leader of the Official Opposition
