Charlottetown, PE – The Office of the Official Opposition is pleased to announce the appointment of Katie Rankin as Chief of Staff.
Rankin brings considerable experience in both political and corporate communications. Having worked several years on the communications team in the Premier’s office when Kathleen Wynne led Ontario, Rankin crafted communications materials on progressive policies like a basic income pilot, pharmacare for everyone under 25, and an action plan to stop sexual violence and harassment.
“Katie brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience in writing, communications, and managing political affairs. Politics can often be fast paced and high pressure. She has the necessary tools and experience to be successful in this arena. We are excited to welcome her aboard,” said Peter Bevan-Baker, Leader of the Official Opposition.
“I am thrilled to be returning to my Island home and immersing myself back into Island politics with the Official Opposition. Government exists to be a force for good in people’s lives. At this critical moment in time, our province needs strong leadership that has a clear vision to build a better and fairer Island for all,” added Rankin.
Rankin will replace Joanne MacKinnon who retired in September.
“Joanne has been a solid and inspiring partner in building the staff of the Official Opposition and in supporting the caucus,” said Bevan-Baker. “I have greatly appreciated her wisdom and strength during the past number of years. I join my colleagues and staff in wishing her the very best in her retirement.”
Katie can be contacted at (902) 620-3977 or by email at kerankin@assembly.pe.ca.
