Charlottetown, PE – The Office of the Official Opposition has made internal changes related to House leadership duties.
Effective January 1, 2021, the Official Opposition House Leader will be Michele Beaton. Michele is MLA for District 5 Mermaid-Stratford.
Also effective January 1, 2021, the Official Opposition Whip will be Patricia Altass. Trish is MLA for District 23 Tyne Valley-Sherbrooke.
“I want to thank outgoing House Leader, Hannah Bell, and outgoing Whip, Lynne Lund, for the superb work they have done in their respective roles. They have been instrumental in helping our young caucus to get its feet confidently and comfortably planted in the legislature,” said Honourable Peter Bevan-Baker, Leader of the Official Opposition.
“Michele has shown great leadership in her work with PAC and as the critic for Finance, and Agriculture and Lands. I know she will bring the same tenacity and deft leadership to her new role as House Leader.”
“Trish has been a strong MLA and leader in helping bring MLAs together for a common goal and purpose. The leadership she has demonstrated as Health and Wellness critic and in her work as Chair of the special committee on poverty in PEI will continue to serve her well in her new role as Whip.”
