On April 27, 2022, Peter Bevan-Baker, MLA for New Haven-Rocky Point and Leader of the Official Opposition, gave a member statement on what represents good governance.

Using the words of Wayne MacKinnon, he cautions government against backsliding into old tendencies: Good governance “will only happen if Prince Edward Island MLAs begin to think of themselves as legislators, not lapdogs, meddlers or muddlers.”
