About Matt
A lifelong resident of the South Shore area, Matt brings extensive experience and an unwavering commitment to advocating for his community. His roles as Co-Chair for the South Shore Health and Wellness Centre and President of the Atlantic branch of the Kidney Foundation of Canada highlight his tireless efforts in championing causes important to his community. His efforts secured improved access to healthcare in the district and helped establish a much-needed provincial renal clinic at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
Matt received his Bachelor of Arts degree (Political Studies) from UPEI in 1997 and his Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Ottawa in 2000. Matt then worked as an advisor in the Senate of Canada and the Department of Foreign affairs before returning to PEI where he has maintained a general law practice for twenty years with clients throughout Prince Edward Island. Matt is committed to giving back to the community, regularly donating his time to various community organizations in the areas of health, the environment, and business sectors. He has served on the executive of provincial, regional and national non-profit boards of directors.
Matt was born and raised in DeSable and currently lives in Augustine Cove with his wife Johanna.
